We are all equal regardless of whether or not a person is incarcerated and in prison we are all human beings and we should all be treated fairly and given the opportunity to defend our most basic human rights. That is why in order to prevent torture and to promote human rights in Lebanon’s prisons, Caritas Lebanon, under the EU funded FIIAP project, visited Spain and worked together as one with Spanish institutions to receive a more hands-on experience on community policing and good practices. The Portfolio Manager -Protection Noha Roukoss who represented Caritas Lebanon during this visit learned about the current policies that are being implemented by touring the Ministry of Interior, the police stations, the prisons, the Ombudsman office and the FIIAP office which gave more insight into the importance of protecting the rights of the people.
