Enhancing the Well-being of Foreign Detainees at Lebanon’s Retention Center: A Focus on Protection and ‎Care

Throughout this project, CL enhances the living conditions of detainees within the RC in Lebanon by ‎providing medical and physical healthcare, mental health services, and necessities through this program. CL ‎also ensures that detainees have access to recreational activities and maintain a clean environment by ‎advocating for sanitary products and pest control. The primary objective of this project is to enhance the ‎protection of detainees by providing the following support:‎
‎-‎ Covering the salaries of staff working at the Retention Center.‎
‎-‎ Continuously providing physical and mental health services as well as ongoing care.‎
‎-‎ Supplying protective services, which include managing cases and offering social counseling, making ‎referrals to shelters for vulnerable individuals, and providing emergency financial assistance.‎
‎-‎ Offering psychosocial support to alleviate psychological distress and promote mental well-being ‎through engagement in sports and recreational activities.‎
‎-‎ Ensuring that the meals supplied align with food security standards.‎
‎-‎ Distributing general and personal hygiene items among detainees.‎
‎-‎ Maintaining regular communication with General Security to monitor case statuses and expedite the ‎process for detainees who are ill or particularly vulnerable.‎
‎-‎ Enhancing environmental hygiene through the implementation of pest control services.‎
‎-‎ Establishing a detention facility that complies with the Mandela Rules and Bangkok Rules.‎
