Caritas Annual Dinner: An Evening of Charity, Art, and Humanity

Casino Lebanon – Thursday, November 20, 2025

Under the patronage of His Beatitude Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Al Rai, represented by His Excellency Bishop Elias Nassar, Caritas Lebanon held its annual charity dinner at Casino Du Liban – Salle des Ambassadeurs, welcoming over 600 guests, including bishops, ministers, parliamentarians, ambassadors, security officials, union leaders, and Caritas families from across Lebanon.

The event carried the biblical theme:
“Go, eat the fat and drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared… for the joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10), reflecting Caritas’ spirit of giving and joy since 1972.

Event Highlights

  • Opening by Majed Bou Hdeir: The renowned journalist set a warm and inspiring tone, linking the evening’s elegance to Caritas’ message of love and service.
  • Father Michel Abboud – Caritas President: Emphasized that Caritas is not a building or program, but a heart that responds to the suffering of the poor, the elderly, and the marginalized, quoting Pope Francis: “Caritas is the hand of the Church that touches the wounds of the people.” He highlighted the transformative power of giving, calling every act of generosity an opportunity to serve God and humanity.
  • Antoine Saad and the Launch of “Fifty… and Counting”: Saad presented his book documenting 50 years of Caritas Lebanon’s humanitarian and social work, which Father Abboud honored with a commemorative plaque.
  • Musical Performance by Guy Manoukian: The world-renowned musician enchanted guests with a selection of pieces, blending art and celebration.

The evening underscored Caritas Lebanon’s enduring mission: a home open to all in need, a beacon of hope and love in challenging times. The event celebrated over 50 years of service and affirmed the organization’s commitment to continue its work for decades to come.
