At the invitation of Caritas Lebanon President Father Michel Abboud and Sectors Coordinator Father Roland Mourad, 36 sectors presidents and treasurers gathered for the annual meeting. It was attended by the organization’s Vice President Dr. Nicolas Al-Hajjar, General Treasurer Mr. Nadim Nader, Executive Director Mr. Gilbert Zouein, and heads of the following departments: Finance, Health, Social, Development and Livelihoods, Communication and Media, and Youth.
The meeting kicked off with a prayer by Father Abboud and a welcoming speech, followed by a speech by the Sectors’ Coordinator, Father Murad, who praised the role of the sectors and their humanitarian and social work. Dr. Al-Hajjar also urged the regional heads to communicate and coordinate with parish priests, emphasizing the use of kind and constructive language, which can sometimes serve as a substitute for material assistance, while upholding the ecclesiastical and religious commitments central to Caritas’ mission.
The departments presented detailed reports on their activities, highlighting both completed programs and ongoing initiatives, as well as strategies for coordinating efforts with the sectors.
The day concluded with a speech from Father Abboud, who reflected on Caritas Lebanon’s presence amid crises and the importance of transparency and responsibility in managing its mission. He reminded the regional heads that responsibility encompasses both leadership and mission, describing them as the bearers of hope in places where darkness prevails. With a divine calling, he encouraged them to “build the Kingdom of God on earth.”
