Caritas Lebanon & Swisscontact Celebrate Graduation, Empowering Youth with New Skills

Caritas Lebanon wrapped up its development program, funded by Swisscontact, with a closing ceremony at the Ajaltoun Technical School. The event focused on awarding certificates to students who took part in this training initiative designed to equip Lebanese youth with professional skills and improve their employment prospects.

This project is part of Swisscontact’s development program, which is jointly funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

The ceremony was attended by the President of Caritas Lebanon Association, Father Michel Abboud; the Executive Director of the Association, Mr. Gilbert Zouein; the Head of Keserwan 2 Region at Caritas Lebanon, Mr. Antoine Saif; a representative of the General Director of Technical Education, Mr. Said Abu Francis; the Director of the Ajaltoun Technical School, Mr. Fadi Semaan; the Director of the Technical Institute, Mr. Roger Chidiac; in addition to several administrative staff, teachers, and students participating in the program.

The program lasted six months, during which the students underwent intensive theoretical and practical training in the fields of electricity, plumbing, and tiling. The practical part of the project was implemented within the buildings and facilities of the school, providing participants the opportunity to refine their skills directly in a real work environment under the supervision of specialists and experts in the aforementioned fields.

In his speech, Father Abboud highlighted the importance of this type of program that enhances the capabilities of youth and provides them with tools for success amid the difficult economic conditions Lebanon is experiencing. He affirmed Caritas Lebanon’s ongoing commitment to work alongside the community and provide initiatives that contribute to empowering the most vulnerable groups. He also thanked Swisscontact for supporting this project, as well as all partners and educational institutions that contributed to its success.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the students, amidst an atmosphere of pride and joy, emphasizing that this program is just one step in a long path of developmental work that Caritas Lebanon seeks to strengthen across various Lebanese regions.
