A delegation from the Board of Directors of Caritas Lebanon visited the Apostolic Nunciature in Harissa on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, to offer condolences on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who has gone to the house of the Heavenly Father.
The delegation included Father Michel Abboud, President of Caritas Lebanon; Dr. Nicolas Al Hajjar, Vice President; Mr. Nadim Nader; Judge Mireille Haddad; Mr. Philippe Saleh; and Mr. Gilbert Zouein.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Lebanon, Archbishop Paolo Borgia, received the delegation and accompanied them to the chapel of the Nunciature, where prayers were offered for the eternal rest of the late Pope, who had devoted his life to the service of the Church and to the care of the poor across the globe.
A spiritual and humanitarian dialogue also took place between the delegation and the Nuncio, during which they discussed the humanitarian and social mission of Caritas Lebanon in supporting the most vulnerable, in accordance with the teachings and ongoing guidance of Pope Francis regarding service to the poor and living according to the Gospel of Mercy.
In the book of condolences, Father Michel Abboud wrote the following message on behalf of the association:
βOn behalf of Caritas Lebanon, we offer our prayers for His Holiness Pope Francis. We pray for him, he who gave great importance to working with the poor, and who lovingly taught us to stand by them and dedicate ourselves to their service.
We implore the Good Lord to send to His Church shepherds who reflect His image and embody His love…β
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Caritas Lebanon
Father Michel Abboud
