Father Michel Abboud, President of Caritas Lebanon, visited the Druze Spiritual Leader in Lebanon, Sheikh Dr. Sami Abu Al-Muna, accompanied by Father Samir Ghawi, President of the Mar Georges Monastery in Naameh. The visit was also attended by the assistant to the Sheikh, Mr. Nizam Hatoum.
The meeting focused on exchanging views on the current social situation in Lebanon, particularly the needs arising from the refugee crisis at various levels. They also discussed ways to address the upcoming phase and the possibility of cooperation with Caritas Lebanon in various humanitarian and social sectors.
The discussion also touched on the importance of efforts to enhance Maronite-Druze cooperation, an initiative launched and encouraged by His Beatitude Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bechara Boutros Al-Rai and His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Sami Abu Al-Muna. The role of Father Samir Ghawi, in coordination with Mr. Nizam Hatoum, was highlighted, especially in the areas of development and activating the resources of the Church and its endowments to serve the community and promote development.
This visit reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and partnership between different Lebanese sects in addressing common challenges and striving for sustainable development that benefits all segments of society.
