Building on the success of the pilot PIONEER project, Caritas Lebanon, in partnership with Swisscontact, has launched its student-led school rehabilitation model at the Dekwaneh Vocational School.
The project engages approximately 20–25 students aged 14 to 20 from diverse social, religious, and economic backgrounds. In addition to receiving hands-on training in rehabilitation and maintenance skills—including plumbing, electrical work, painting, and other technical trades—participants take part in structured peacebuilding sessions designed to foster dialogue, empathy, and peaceful communication.
By combining participatory renovation activities with peacebuilding interventions, the initiative empowers students to actively contribute to the rehabilitation of their learning environment while strengthening relationships within their community.
