Caritas Lebanon Accredited as University Training Center by Psychologists Association

A delegation from Caritas Lebanon, led by President Father Michel Abboud, visited the Lebanese Psychologists Association, where they were warmly received by Dr. Raja Makki, the association’s president.

The delegation included Gilbert Zouein, Executive Director; Sandy Hakmeh, Head of Health Programs; and Dr. Jacqueline Ayoub, Coordinator of Psychological Support Programs.

During the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise to support mental health and human dignity in Lebanon’s current challenging context.

Father Abboud received two official accreditation certificates on behalf of Caritas Lebanon, recognizing the organisation as a University Training Center in Clinical Psychology for the period from November 1, 2025, to November 30, 2027. This accreditation affirms Caritas Lebanon’s adherence to academic and professional standards set by the association.

“This recognition is a milestone in our mission,” Father Abboud said. “It enables us to train university students and interns under licensed specialists, reinforcing Caritas’ role as a leading institution in integrated mental health and social care.”

He also thanked Dr. Makki and the council for their trust and constructive collaboration, affirming Caritas Lebanon’s commitment to ongoing joint initiatives to promote mental health and support emerging professionals in the field.
