The southern sectors of Caritas Lebanon witnessed a special day of leadership handovers and visits across Tyre, Bint Jbeil, and Jezzine. The tour was led by Caritas President Father Michel Abboud, accompanied by Regional Coordinator Father Roland Murad and Vice President Dr. Nicolas Al Hajjar.
Handover in Tyre:
The transition took place between the outgoing office led by Monsignor Maroun Ghafari and the newly elected office under Mr. Antoine Moussa. Monsignor Ghafari thanked the Church and Caritas for their trust over the years, highlighting their dedication to serving the poor. Mr. Moussa pledged to continue the mission with the same spirit of service, while Father Murad and Father Abboud emphasized transparency, perseverance, and converting challenges into opportunities for good.
Handover in Bint Jbeil – Rmeich:
The team then visited Bint Jbeil, where Dr. Paul El-Hajj succeeded Engineer Tanyous Madi. The ceremony included introductions with the new team and guidance from Father Abboud on continuing Caritas’ mission with commitment, cooperation, and service.
Visit to Jezzine Project:
The tour concluded at the construction site of Caritas’ new center in Jezzine, joined by Vice President Dr. Hajjar. They reviewed plans with Lawyer Antoine Bou Rached, Regional Coordinator Father Elias Abou Rashed, and the project team, highlighting progress and the importance of donors’ support. Both Father Abboud and Dr. Hajjar stressed that every stone in the project is a blessing, reflecting Caritas’ commitment to serving human dignity.
The day combined responsibility, spirituality, and new initiatives, reaffirming Caritas Lebanon’s motto:
“Wherever there is a human being… there is Caritas.”
