At the invitation of the Akkar Sector of Caritas Lebanon, members, volunteers, and youth gathered at Dar Al-Mahabba for the Elderly in Andqet to celebrate Christmas with the residents, in a heartful gathering.
The Mass was attended by North Coordinator Ms. Laurette Daher, regional committee members, volunteers, and the youth of Akkar Sector, led by Regional President Mr. Michel Nassour, creating a warm atmosphere that reflected Caritas’ spirit and mission.
Father Michel Abboud, President of Caritas Lebanon, led the Mass and addressed the elderly:
“You are the blessing here. We are your family, your brothers and children, representing all the families you belong to. You are not abandoned, for you are our family.”
He emphasized the mutual nature of giving in life and likened the elderly to saints like Charbel and St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, who embodied spiritual richness beyond material comfort. He reflected that, like the birth of Christ, life often presents challenges, but love has the power to transform hardship into grace.
After the Mass, Father Abboud administered Communion to bedridden residents in a silent prayerful gesture, showing the Church’s presence alongside those in need. The celebration concluded with the family gathered around a cake, sharing a simple moment of joy that mirrored the spirit of Christmas.
Dar Al-Mahabba is more than a shelter; it embodies the principle that where love is present, life, family, and hope are given and no one is ever left behind.
