Efforts to Confront the Threat of Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling in the wake of the Beirut explosion and the Corona pandemic carried out by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC, funded by the republic of Austria and in cooperation with Caritas Lebanon, the new Austrian Ambassador in Lebanon Dr. René Paul Amry visited Beit Aleph at the Convent of the Lazaristes Fathers Achrafieh, in the presence of the convent's founder Father Ziad Haddad the Vincentian Fathers Regional visitor of the East, President of Caritas Lebanon Father Michel Abboud, in addition to the representative ofthe United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Mrs. RenéeSabbagh, in order to open a summer kindergarten.
Playground equipped with various games necessary to develop children’s skills, and to become a safe and friendly place after it was destroyed following the Beirutport explosion. The Ambassador expressed his great gratitude for thepositive impact generated by this project in protecting the rights of migrant workers in Lebanon, and praised Caritas Lebanon's active work in this direction.
Personal Hygiene and Household cleaning kits were also distributed to migrant adults and families. Beth Aleph School project joins 130 students, and it was established in 2010, in cooperation with Caritas Austria, Caritas Lebanon and the Social Bureau of the Lazaristes Fathers, a sit continues to provide schooling for the children of migrant worker seven during the COVID-19 pandemic.
