On the 9th of December 2020, a UN-OCHA team headed by the Deputy of UN office Ms. Helena Mazarro, visited Caritas Achrafieh Social Center as part of the emergency plan in response to the Beirut Blast disaster and review the activities implemented by Caritas’ and funded by UN-OCHA.
The visit also included a tour of the education center Beth Aleph that provides education for preschool migrant children. During the presentation Dr. David Elkins - Head of Emergency Operations provided an overview of Caritas’ response activities to the emergency state caused by the Beirut Blast. Mrs. Hessen Sayah - Head of the Migrants Department, also reviewed details of the projects that are protecting migrant workers in Lebanon specifically by helping them to claim their rights. The delegation had the opportunity to listen to beneficiaries who live in the Beirut affected area as migrant workers spoke about their struggles, especially after the Beirut explosion.
